Dry Whey - Central U.S.

Released on April 23, 2026

In the Central region, dry whey prices increased across the range this week.
The mostly price series is unchanged at the top, but the bottom moved one cent
lower. Domestic demand is relatively steady, but an international tender last
week led to a flurry of demand for dry whey. Spot loads remain available, but
stakeholders say last week's tender consumed some manufacturers' excess
inventory. Spot loads of dry whey meeting stringent end user specifications
remain difficult to find on the spot market. Cheesemakers are running busy
production schedules, leaving plenty of whey for drying. Plant managers
continue to prioritize higher whey protein concentrates, limiting dry whey
production. Prices for animal feed whey are unchanged this week. The spot
market remains quiet amid light demand, minimal production, and tight
inventories.
