Compared to last sale: (3/09/26) Feeder lambs were all too lightly tested to
develop any market trend. Feeder buyers were mostly absent this week. Most new
crop lambs on offer were short docked this sale and most old crop lambs were of
plain to average quality and not ideal for putting on feed. Most lambs were
purchased for slaughter this week as a result. Demand for slaughter lambs was
mostly good to very good with several ethnic buyers in the stands buying.
Slaughter lambs sold mostly steady to 10.00 higher. Ethnic buyers purchased a
higher quality lambs again this sale as most feeding buyers were not in the
market. Demand for hair lambs was good to very good. Market activity was mostly
active this sale with rapid bidding seen. Demand for Slaughter ewes was mostly
very good. Slaughter ewes sold mostly 15.00-20.00 higher on good ewes, Utility
ewes and cull ewes sold steady to 10.00 higher on a poorer quality offering.
Ewe quality this sale was mostly average. Goats sold on very good demand with
several ethnic buyers in the stand buying slaughter goats for immediate
harvest. Slaughter kids under 80 lbs sold mostly 15.00-30.00 higher. Kids over
80 lbs sold generally steady on a lower quality offering. Demand for older kids
to yearlings was very good as most yearling offerings sold sharply higher.
Demand for feeding goats continues to be very good. Feeding kids sold generally
steady in a narrow comparison. Kid quality was mostly average to attractive
this week. Goat offerings were moderate to heavy.
