Front Pushing into Midwest Thursday
Prairie storm weakens but still threatens Dakotas; cold front to spark Midwest storms Thursday.
A storm system in the Canadian Prairies continues to weaken as it swirls around, but is still producing scattered showers and thunderstorms, some of which could be severe over the eastern Dakotas and far western Minnesota yet this afternoon and evening. Additional showers and thunderstorms are developing down the rest of the Plains as well. Those will continue to be possible for Thursday while the system to the north pushes eastward through southern Canada. That will drag a cold front into the Midwest, sparking plenty of showers and thunderstorms. In its wake, another disturbance crossing the Pacific Northwest will get showers and thunderstorms going again across the Canadian Prairies and Northern Plains, keeping these regions quite active.
