Canada markets are closed today for the Boxing Day holiday. On Tuesday, Dec. 24, the January contract closed up $11.60 metric ton (mt) as the move to the March contract continues with first notice day approaching. Farmer selling of canola has stalled as the end of the year approaches. U.S. grain markets are higher so far Thursday, but trading is still thin due to the holiday week. March oats are up 1/4 cent per bushel, while Kansas City and Chicago March wheat are up 7 1/4 cents and Minneapolis wheat futures are up 6 cents. March soybean oil is down .22 cent per pound, February Malaysian palm oil is up .29% and February crude oil is down 9 cents per barrel. The Canadian dollar is down .002333 at .693895 and the U.S. Dollar Index is down.0.1490 at 108.015
