Lighter On-Feed, Placement Numbers Expected in October USDA Cattle on Feed Report
With both on-feed and placement totals expected to be lighter than a year ago, Friday's Cattle on Feed report should be found to be bullish, according to DTN Livestock Analyst ShayLe Stewart.
OMAHA (DTN) — With both on-feed and placement totals expected to be lighter than a year ago, Friday’s October USDA Cattle on Feed report should be found to be bullish, especially coupled with the fact that September’s marketings could be over last year’s total.
The only hesitation that I have regarding Friday’s report is the placement data, as increasing drought conditions could have driven more cattle to feedlots than originally assumed, but there’s a chance that we may not see that number influx until next month.
