Corn, Wheat, Soybean Export Commitments Higher Than Year Ago
Total corn sales commitments for 2024-25 are up 48% from a year ago; soybean sales commitments are 17% higher than a year ago; wheat sales commitments are up 18% from a year ago.
OMAHA (DTN) — USDA’s Weekly Export Sales and Shipments report released Thursday listed net sales of 111.5 million bushels (mb) of corn; soybean net sales totaled 74.9 mb; wheat net sales commitments totaled 13.8 mb. Corn sales were for 2024-25 and 2025-26 delivery. Soybean and wheat sales were for 2024-25 delivery.
For the week ended Oct. 31, 2024, USDA reported an increase of 108.9 mb (2,766,500 mt) of corn export sales in 2024-25 and an increase of 2.6 mb (65,500 mt) for 2025-26. Last week’s export shipments of 36.1 mb were below the 46.8 mb needed each week to achieve USDA’s export estimate of 2.325 billion bushels (bb) in 2024-25. Corn sales commitments now total 1.125 bb in 2024-25 and are up 48% from a year ago. That is ahead of USDA’s estimated pace at a time when USDA’s estimate of U.S. ending corn stocks is the highest in six years.
For the week ended Oct. 31, USDA reported an increase of 74.9 mb (2,037,200 mt) of soybean export sales in 2024-25. Last week’s export shipments of 89.1 mb were above the 33.4 mb needed each week to achieve USDA’s export estimate of 1.850 bb in 2024-25. Soybean sales commitments now total 1.040 bb in 2024-25 and are up 17% from a year ago. That is ahead of USDA’s estimated pace at a time when USDA’s estimate of U.S. ending soybean stocks is the highest in six years.
For the week ended Oct. 31, USDA reported an increase of 13.8 mb (374,700 mt) of wheat export sales for 2024-25. Last week’s export shipments of 8.7 mb were below the 15.3 mb needed each week to achieve USDA’s export estimate of 825 mb in 2024-25. Wheat sales commitments now total 510 mb in 2024-25 and are up 18% from a year ago. That is slightly ahead of USDA’s estimated pace at a time when USDA’s estimate of U.S. ending wheat stocks is the highest in four years.
