Corn, Wheat, Soybean Export Commitments Higher Than Year Ago
Total corn sales commitments for 2024-25 are up 42% from a year ago; soybean sales commitments are 6% higher than a year ago; wheat sales commitments are up 20% from a year ago.
OMAHA (DTN) — USDA’s Weekly Export Sales and Shipments report released Friday due to Thursday’s Thanksgiving Day holiday listed net sales of 44.0 million bushels (mb) of corn; soybean net sales totaled 92.2 mb; wheat net sales commitments totaled 13.5 mb. Corn and soybean sales were old and new crop combined; wheat sales were all 2024-25.
For the week ended Nov. 21, 2024, USDA reported an increase of 41.8 mb (1,062,900 mt) of corn export sales in 2024-25 and an increase of 2.6 mb (67,200 mt) for 2025-26. Last week’s export shipments of 39.8 mb were below the 47.9 mb needed each week to achieve USDA’s export estimate of 2.325 billion bushels (bb) in 2024-25. Corn sales commitments now total 1.278 bb in 2024-25 and are up 33% from a year ago. That is ahead of USDA’s estimated pace at a time when USDA’s estimate of U.S. ending corn stocks is the highest in six years.
For the week ended Nov. 21, USDA reported an increase of 91.5 mb (2,490,500 mt) of soybean export sales in 2024-25 and an increase of 0.7 mb (18,000 mt) for 2025-26. Last week’s export shipments of 76.5 mb were above the 29.5 mb needed each week to achieve USDA’s export estimate of 1.825 bb in 2024-25. Soybean sales commitments now total 1.245 bb in 2024-25 and are up 10% from a year ago. That is slightly ahead of USDA’s estimated pace at a time when USDA’s estimate of U.S. ending soybean stocks is the highest in five years.
For the week ended Nov. 21, USDA reported an increase of 13.5 mb (366,800 mt) of wheat export sales for 2024-25. Last week’s export shipments of 15.9 mb were below the 16.5 mb needed each week to achieve USDA’s export estimate of 825 mb in 2024-25. Wheat sales commitments now total 557 mb in 2024-25 and are up 20% from a year ago. That is ahead of USDA’s estimated pace at a time when USDA’s estimate of U.S. ending wheat stocks is the highest in four years.
