Near to Above Normal Temperatures
Temperatures will be within 5 degrees of normal across northern areas and around 5-10 degrees above normal across southern areas.
General Overview: AN ACTIVE WEATHER PATTERN WILL BRING HEAVY RAIN, SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS, AND WINTRY PRECIPITATION TO PORTIONS OF THE COUNTRY OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS.
EAST: A potent storm system will track from the Southern Plains into the Ohio Valley and Northeast through early week. Severe thunderstorms capable of damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes are expected across the Lower Mississippi Valley and Southeast on Saturday, shifting into the Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic states Sunday into Monday. Heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding, especially from the Ozarks to the Appalachians. Wintry precipitation in the form of snow, ice, and a wintry mix is forecast for the interior Northeast and northern New England as colder air wraps in behind the system.

-Days 1-3: Above normal east of the Rockies, below normal Pacific Northwest
-Days 4-6: Above normal East Coast, near to below normal elsewhere
-Days 7-10: Near to slightly above normal for much of the East
CENTRAL: Thunderstorm chances increase Saturday across the Southern Plains into the Lower Mississippi Valley ahead of the approaching storm system. Some storms may become severe with large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes possible, especially across eastern Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Heavy rain will spread northeastward Sunday into Monday, with wintry precipitation possible across the Upper Midwest and western Great Lakes. Cooler and drier conditions are expected behind this system by midweek.

-Days 4-6: Below normal northern tier, near to above normal elsewhere
-Days 7-10: Near to slightly below normal for much of the region
WEST: An unsettled pattern continues across the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies with periods of rain and mountain snow. Dry and warm conditions prevail across the Southwest. By late week, a system may bring precipitation chances back to parts of California and the Great Basin.

-Days 4-6: Near to slightly above normal interior West, cooler Northwest
-Days 7-10: Trending warmer across much of the region
TROPICAL: No tropical cyclone activity is expected across the Atlantic, Caribbean, or Gulf of Mexico during the next 7 days.
