Hess Sees Bakken Gas Throughput Growth Through 2027

SECAUCUS, NJ (DTN) – Hess Midstream said Friday (9/19) it expects expect long-term growth in gas throughput volumes until the end of 2027 at least in the Bakken field.

Oil throughput volumes are, meanwhile, expected to plateau by next year as a result of lower planned rig activity, Hess said in an updated financial and operational guidance for the remainder of 2025, as well as on expectations for 2026 and 2027.

In general, throughput volumes are expected to stay above already-established minimum volume commitments, Hess added.

The company also updated its full year 2025 gas throughput guidance based on adverse weather conditions and maintenance in the third quarter and lower expected third-party volumes in the fourth quarter.

In 2025, full year gas gathering volumes are anticipated to average between 455 and 465 MMcfpd and gas processing volumes at 440-450 MMmcfpd, Hess said.

On the financial front, Hess expects relatively flat adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization in 2026 as compared to 2025.  It foresaw growth in 2027 from continued growth in gas throughput volumes and from inflation escalation provisions under existing commercial agreements.

Hess also expects significantly lower capital spending in 2026 and 2027 based on suspension of early engineering activities on the Capa gas plant and removal of the project from its forward plan.
