Front Pushing through Southern Plains, Midwest Tuesday
A sharp cold front will trigger major severe weather Monday, with tornadoes, large hail, and heavy rain across the Plains and Midwest.
A sharp cold front continues to be draped from the Texas Panhandle northeast into western Wisconsin early Monday afternoon. Strong-to-severe thunderstorms are forecast to develop along the front this afternoon and evening, causing a major severe weather event which includes massive hail and strong tornadoes. Ahead of the front, storms that have continued since Sunday evening are still found from Missouri to Michigan. These storms may continue through the evening before finally petering out, but may contain heavy rain and some severe weather, especially on the northern edge in Indiana, Michigan, and western Ohio. The front will push south through the Southern Plains and east through the Midwest on Tuesday. The risk of severe weather is lower, but still possible along the front. Cold temperatures continue to fill in behind the cold front, leading to potential frosts and freezes from the Canadian Prairies down to Colorado for Tuesday morning.
