Northern Heat, Southern Storms Continue Wednesday
Heat dome grips Northern Plains and Great Lakes; storms and rain cool the South.
A dome of high heat continues to sit over the U.S. on Tuesday afternoon with the highest readings over the Northern Plains into the Great Lakes. The heat will continue on Wednesday, though is capped close to the Canadian border by a front that will stick around and may produce some isolated showers and thunderstorms. Additional showers and thunderstorms are found from Texas to the Carolinas, areas that will continue to see showers and thunderstorms again on Wednesday. The rain and clouds will help to limit the overall heat across the south.
