Cold Air Spreading Through US Wednesday

Heavy snow continues to move east through Wisconsin and Michigan. Strong winds, cold air for those east of the Rockies.

A system is leaving through the eastern Midwest Tuesday afternoon, but will still produce scattered showers across the East for Wednesday. The bigger story is a clipper system moving through the Northern Plains with a band of heavy snow that is getting into Minnesota. The band of snow will continue eastward through Wisconsin and Michigan on Wednesday. Strong winds on the backside of the system may produce blizzard conditions at times. But the winds will also turn on the lake-effect snow machine on the eastern side of each Great Lake. A cold front is not very active with precipitation, but is sweeping through the Plains and ushering in much colder air. That cold air will spread through most areas east of the Rockies on Wednesday.
