Scattered Showers, One Last Burst of Cold This Weekend

Old front brings Gulf Coast storms Friday; weekend cold push likely causes last frost/freeze risk.

An old front remains active near the Gulf Coast with scattered showers and thunderstorms Friday afternoon. Some additional strong-to-severe thunderstorms may develop around Oklahoma later this afternoon and evening as well, with showers extending into the Ohio Valley. These couple of disturbances will be joined by a couple more this weekend, producing largely isolated showers, with heavier rain near the Gulf. One more push of cold air will move down into the country over the weekend and last into the first half of next week, almost certainly the last chance for frosts and freezes for U.S. agriculture.
