Above Normal For Most

Above normal temperatures are likely for most today, with anomalies of 4-12 degrees likely. However, closer to slightly below normal anomalies will be possible across portions of Florida.

General Overview: ACTIVE WEATHER PATTERN BRINGS RAIN, SNOW, AND SEVERE STORMS TO MUCH OF THE NATION OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. TEMPERATURE ANOMALIES SHOW ABOVE AVERAGE WARMTH FOR MUCH OF THE COUNTRY.

EAST:  A complex weather system will bring a variety of precipitation types to the Eastern U.S. over the next few days. Rain is expected along the East Coast, with a mix of rain, snow, and freezing rain possible in the interior Northeast and Great Lakes region. There is a risk of severe thunderstorms in parts of the Southeast. As the system progresses, colder air will filter in behind it, potentially changing rain to snow in some areas.

Temperature Anomalies:

-Days 1-3: Near normal to slightly above normal temperatures for most areas.

-Days 4-6: Warming trend begins, with temperatures rising to 6-12°F above normal for much of the region.

-Days 7-10: Continued above normal temperatures, with anomalies of 6-12°F or more above average, especially in the Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic.

CENTRAL:  An active weather pattern will bring multiple rounds of precipitation to the Central U.S. Rain and thunderstorms are likely across the southern Plains and lower Mississippi Valley, with some storms potentially becoming severe. Further north, a mix of rain, freezing rain, and snow is expected across the upper Midwest and northern Plains. As the system evolves, colder air will push southward, potentially changing rain to snow in some areas.

Temperature Anomalies:

-Days 1-3: Near normal to slightly above normal temperatures for most areas, with cooler air in the northern Plains.

-Days 4-6: Warming trend begins, with temperatures rising to 6-12°F above normal for much of the region, especially in the southern Plains.

-Days 7-10: Continued above normal temperatures, with anomalies of 6-12°F or more above average across much of the central U.S.

WEST:  A series of storm systems will bring rain and mountain snow to much of the Western U.S. over the next several days. Heavy snow is likely in the higher elevations of the Rockies and Cascades. Rain and lower elevation snow are expected in the Pacific Northwest and parts of California. As the systems move through, periods of gusty winds are also possible.

Temperature Anomalies:

-Days 1-3: Near normal to slightly below normal temperatures for most areas, with cooler conditions in the Northwest.

-Days 4-6: Gradual warming trend, with temperatures rising to near or slightly above normal for much of the region.

-Days 7-10: Continued warming, with temperatures reaching 3-6°F above normal for many areas, especially in the Southwest.

TROPICAL: No tropical cyclone activity is expected in the Atlantic or Eastern Pacific basins over the next 7 days.
