Above Average Temperatures Continue
Temperatures are expected to continue to be 4-8 degrees above average for most today.
General Overview: MAJOR WINTER STORM TO IMPACT CENTRAL AND EASTERN US WITH HEAVY SNOW, ICE, AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS. ABOVE AVERAGE TEMPERATURES FOR MUCH OF THE COUNTRY.
EAST: Rain chances will continue across the southeast today. An area of low-pressure will push north of the Great Lakes, giving way to raina cross much of the region, and a wintry mix of snow and ice across parts of Michigan. Wednesday and Thursday, a deep area of low-pressure will bring significant impacts to the region. A wintry mix of snow and ice will likely be seen across parts of the Northeast and Great Lakes, with rain and thunderstorms, some severe, likely for areas further south as it pushes across the Eastern US. Late in the week, rain chances will linger along the Gulf Coast, with another system bringing returning snow chances and strong wind gusts to parts of the Great Lakes and Northeast.

-Days 7-10: Near to slightly below average temperatures return
CENTRAL: A dynamic weather pattern will bring multiple rounds of precipitation to the region. A new area of low-pressure will bring a wintry mix to parts of the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest late today and through the midweek, while rain and thunderstorms are expected further south. There is a risk of severe weather in the Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley. Behind this system, expect a drier period late in the week for most areas, although the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest will see continued rain and snow chances into and possibly through the weekend.

WEST: A series of Pacific storm systems will bring periods of rain and mountain snow to the Northwest and Northern Rockies throughout the week and likely into the weekend. The Southwest will remain mostly dry and mild, although the Four Corners may see increased precipitation chances today and tomorrow as an area of low-pressure transitions into the plains.
