Compared to last week: Steer calves 10.00-1500 higher with instances of up to
20.00 higher. Heifer calves 5.00-10.00 higher with instances of up to 15.00
higher. Demand very good. Quality average. Front-end bulls traded at prices
comparable to last week's steer prices, reflecting continued strength in the
market. CME cattle futures are sharply higher today, supported by firm cash
trade and tightening supplies. Slaughter cows and bulls fully steady in a light
test. Packers struggled to buy slaughter type cattle today, the majority of
cattle were either grass-bound or bred-type stock.
