FEEDER CATTLE 6587 7986 8917
Compared to last week: Feeder steers 7.00-14.00 lower. Feeder heifers
7.00-10.00 lower except 600-700lbs 15.00 lower. Heifer quality was noticeably
better than steer quality. CME futures were down sharply, and just before the
close buyers began to pull back. What had been a steer market running 4.00-9.00
lower slipped further after the futures closed, finishing 7.00-14.00 lower.
Steer calves 10.00-15.00 higher. Heifer calves 4.00-6.00 higher. Calf demand
moderate to good. Calf buyers continued to give it all for front-end cattle on
Tuesday, but there was simply not a lot of that quality on offer. This week's
calf sale included numerous drafts of bulls and unweaned cattle.
