Compared to last week: Not enough comparable sales on feeder steers
or heifers due to last weeks light test but a generally steady undertone was
noted.
Buyer demand was good.
Drought conditions continue across the state.
The US Drought Monitor reported that temperatures were mostly 10-15
degrees above normal in Kansas for this time of year, leading to large
expansions of moderate, severe and extreme drought in south-central and
southeast Kansas, and the introduction of abnormal dryness in much of northeast
Kansas.
Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (36.4% Steers, 63.6% Heifers).
Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 100%.
Unless otherwise noted, Feeder Cattle prices FOB based on net weights
after a 2 -3% shrink or equivalent, with an 8-12 cent slide >600 lbs.
