Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold 4.00 to 9.00 higher. Slaughter
cows and bulls sold steady to 3.00 lower. Demand was good to very good.
Trading of negotiated fed cattle sales in feedlots sold 5.00 higher at 240.00.
This past week in the hay market, demand remained slow and prices stayed steady
for grass hay, while lower quality dairy hay saw a slight decrease in price.
Trade remains slow to moderate. Producers continue with fall harvest while also
putting up the last few cuttings alfalfa, which seem to be higher quality.
There is still an abundance of lower quality alfalfa across the state, that is
keeping grinding hay movement steady.
