FEEDER CATTLE 4000 3185 3840
Compared to two weeks ago: Feeder steers 10.00 to 15.00 higher, instances to
20.00 higher. Feeder heifers mostly steady, except 700-750 lbs and 850-900 lbs
10.00 higher. Very good demand for this large offering of backgrounded
yearlings and weaned fall calves. The market was very active as reports of
cash fed cattle came in at 260.00 this week. Quality was very attractive
throughout the offering, however flesh on the yearlings varied greatly, from
light and just right, to very heavy fleshed. Many full loads, including
multiple load lots throughout the sale, allowing buyers to make full pens of
uniform cattle. The fall calves were very light to moderate fleshed and sold
very easily. Volatility returned to the CME cattle futures complex but strong
cash market fundamentals gave support to the market at the auction.
