Compared to the special feeder calf auction just one week ago, today 400 - 500
lb new crop steer calves were fully steady, 500 - 600 lb calves 7.00 - 13.00
higher and 600 - 700 lb steers were 8.00 to 14.00 higher. Heifer trade saw 500
- 600 lb calves 6.00 to 10.00 higher and 600 - 700 lb calves as much as 9.00
higher. No comparison stated on any yearling cattle today given the light
numbers. Available today were many groups of home-raised, green feeder calves
both LTW'd and "just off the cow". Many opportunities for high quality
replacement heifers also. Demand was very good for today's moderate offering.
