Compared to last week:  Feeder steers and heifers not established this week.
Demand good following the long holiday period of typically no auction sales.
Cattle futures ended that period and started the new year mostly on 
a positive note fueling demand in auction barns.
The fed market was very slow to establish itself this week, but had 
some dressed trades on Thursday at 365.00.
Slaughter rates for the first week back are showing estimates near those 
of a year ago.
