SLAUGHTER CATTLE 401 327 482
Compared to last week, slaughter and feeder cows traded 2.00 to 4.00 higher.
Slaughter bulls mostly steady. Another short run this week with yet a strong
market with most of the bidding coming from the seats. Several buyers on hand
with a short supply of cows in the area. Cattle country video sale held there
Oregon Trail Classic sale last Tuesday and Wednesday with a very active market
both days. Ranchers had big smiles as their cattle brought record highs for
future delivery cattle. Many of the calves sold for 100.00 to 130.00 per cwt
more than the same sale last year. Some parts of the state are starting to get
very dry but cattlemen should have enough summer grass until weaning. Hay
production about par for the year and prices are relatively close to last years
market in many areas.
