Compared to last week: Slaughter steers and heifers 1.00 to 2.00 lower, couple
of instances to 5.00 lower. Demand was only moderate and the market wasn't as
active. A nice offering of high quality grading, attractive steers and heifers
but with the beef trade in decline packer buyers were more reserved in their
bidding. Cash fed cattle were lower in the country last week and packers kept
that mindset at the action and bid accordingly.
Slaughter lambs unevenly steady. Slaughter ewes mostly steady. Good demand
for this large offering of slaughter lambs. Good demand for feeder lambs as
there were some nice offerings in a light flesh condition. Good demand remains
for slaughter ewes.
