Compared to last week: Slaughter steers and heifers 3.00 to 4.00 lower. Good
demand for this nice offering of longtime fed, high quality grading steers and
heifers. The market was lower but it was still active. After yesterday's
limit losses in the cattle futures and reports of cash trades at 238.00-240.00
in the country, buyers set their sights for a lower market. 12 full loads of
steers, 6 full loads of heifers, balance part loads and stock trailer loads.
Slaughter lambs 5.00 to 10.00 lower. Slaughter ewes mixed, Good 2-3 10.00
higher, other grades steady. Moderate to good demand for this large offering
of traditional weight slaughter lambs. More lambs were carrying mud on their
fleeces, lowering dressing percents and buyers bid accordingly. Very good
demand for slaughter ewes. Good demand for feeding lambs in that desirable
light flesh condition, however most lambs were carrying enough flesh they went
to slaughter accounts.
