Compared to last week: Not enough comparable sales on steers or heifers but a
higher undertone was noted. Trading activity was active on good buyer demand.
Quality was mostly plain to attractive with several load lots of nice
yearlings on offer. Discounts for unweaned steer calves are widening as we
move into October. While discounts continue to be applied to heifer calves,
tighter supplies of heifers on offer caused the unweaned discount to be notably
smaller for heifers compared to their steer counterparts today. Sorghum
harvest is in full swing and winter wheat planting continues.
