Ozarks Regional Stockyard kicked off the new year with a Wean/Vac Special on
Friday, January 2. A rare 6:30 AM start saw the cash market continue its upward
trend. With no recent sales for comparison, compared to the last regular sale
of two weeks ago, feeder steers and heifers over 750 lbs. were 5.00-8.00
higher. Steer and heifer calves were 12.00-17.00 higher with spots 25.00
higher. Peewee calves under 500 lbs. were 30.00-40.00 higher. Demand was very
good on a heavy supply. The quality was above average with several load and
multi-load drafts coming across the scale throughout the day. The CME Live
Cattle Contracts opened the new year higher with Feeder Cattle Contracts
sharply higher. ORS will be returning to its normal schedule next week with its
Tuesday Feeder sale beginning at 8:30 AM and its Wednesday Slaughter and
Replacement sale beginning at noon.
