Compared to last week: Steer and heifer calves traded mostly 10.00 to 20.00
higher. Yearling cattle were too lightly tested for a market trend but a
higher undertone was noted. Quality was mostly plain to attractive. The
majority of the supply consisted of lighter fleshed cattle with favorable
weigh-ups. Trading activity was active on very good buyer demand. Slaughter
cows and bulls traded mostly 2.00 higher. Seasonably high temperatures have
finally made there way into the trading region, with temperatures topping the
triple digits for the first time this summer. However, timely rains throughout
the summer have created favorable pasture and range conditions despite the
warmup.
