Compared to last week, slaughter steers were 7.00 higher and Holstein slaughter
steers were 6.00 higher. Slaughter heifers were 9.00 higher and no comparisons
are available on Holstein slaughter heifers because of light receipts.
Slaughter cows were 3.00 higher and Holstein slaughter cows were 2.00 higher.
Slaughter bulls were 11.00 lower and Holstein slaughter bulls were 10.00
higher. Demand for veal calves was significantly lighter this week due largely
in part to frigid temperatures. Buyers showed the best interest in calves
100lbs and heavier. Choice/prime slaughter lambs were mostly 11.00 - 14.00
higher with good demand. No comparison available on slaughter kids due to a
limited comparison, but good demand was noted.
