Compared to last Monday the feeder market was stronger with an average
quality offering. Light weight feeder steers and heifers 350 lbs and under
were sharply higher with a good supply and strong demand, while the 400-600 lbs
cattle were steady to 4.00 higher with a good supply and good demand for
weaned and value added packages. The yearling loads and groups were steady
with a good supply and good demand, while the singles and smaller packages of
yearlings were 2.00 to 3.00 lower. Buyers were active today and willing to pay
premiums for weaned and value added packages, while increasing the discount on
plainer, off colored, and bawling calves and widening the price spread in most
weight classes. Slaughter cows were 2.00 to 4.00 lower with a good supply and
moderate demand, while slaughter bulls were steady to 2.00 lower.
