SLAUGHTER CATTLE 1355 1607 2271
Compared to last week moderate run, steers calves less than 700 lbs sold 10.00
to 12.00 lower. Yearling weight cattle over 700 lbs sold 20.00 lower. Heifer
calves less than 700 lbs sold 3.00 to 10.00 lower. Most yearlings sold couple
bucks lower except a flat 8 weight sold 6.00 higher. Slaughter steers and
heifers sold steady to 2.00 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls old 1.00 to 2.00
lower. Demand was moderate, instance good for some flyweight steers and
heifers. CME and negative rumors or quotes have been very hard on the cattle
sector the last few weeks. With the CME cattle boards dropping and the feeder
cattle index falling it has been hard for buyers to get a good feel on what
they can pay for a certain weight class and still try to make a profit on the
other end.
