Compared to last week steers less than 600 lbs sold steady to 5.00 lower, 600
to 700 lbs sold 15.00 lower and over 700 lbs sold 2.00 to 8.00 lower. Heifer
calves and yearlings sold unevenly steady on a light comparison to last week.
Slaughter steers and heifers sold 2.00 to 4.00 lower. No comparable test for
slaughter cows but a lower undertone was noted. Demand was moderate to good.
Quite a few of the reporting auctions had customer appreciation sales along
with a free meal and brought a large crowd to the sales. First real test of the
fresh bawling calf market in the state or really in several surrounding states
other than the video sales.
