Compared to last week light test of the feeder cattle market, steers and
heifers sold unevenly steady to 10.00 higher on comparable weights. Slaughter
steers and heifers sold 4.00 to 7.00 higher and not enough slaughter cows and
bulls for a market comparison. Demand was good from the farmer/feeder and
background buyers. Some of the feeder cattle weight classes would have sold at
all - time record highs for the state last week. Feedlot sales continue to
have closeouts in the black and cattle feeders keep digging in and back filling
empty pens. More than likely, farmer/feeders will have a bin busting corn crop
and they plan on walking several bushels of corn to town via slaughter steers
and heifers.
