Compared to last week: Receipts on feeders were up considerably this week, with
several consignments of weaned calves available. Demand was stronger, supported
by higher-quality offerings and some firmness in cattle futures late last week.
Feeder cattle sold sharply higher; however, due to the light test of feeders
last week, an accurate market trend could not be established. Slaughter cows
sold $5.00 to $10.00 higher on higher-yielding Boners and Breakers, while
lower-dressing kinds traded $5.00 to $10.00 lower.
