Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers traded unevenly, with prices
ranging from $10.00 lower to $10.00 higher depending on quality and weight. The
variability reflected the more moderate offering seen this week. Notably, a few
drafts of high-quality, weaned heifers stood out in the market, commanding
$15.00 higher prices due to strong buyer interest. Despite ongoing heat
conditions, which may have tempered buyer activity to some degree, overall
demand remained good, particularly for cattle showing condition and quality.
Slaughter cattle sold steady this week, with little change in prices from the
previous week. Demand continues to support a firm tone in the slaughter sector.
