Compared to the last sale: Cash prices followed the board as much of what was
lost before the holiday break was re-gained this week. Steer calves weighing
550-650 brought 52.00-54.00 higher. There were too few comparable sales on all
other classes to set a trend but a higher undertone was noted. Quality was
largely plainer cattle with some groups of higher quality cattle bringing a
better price. Short and unweaned cattle continue to fall behind their
counterparts in price. Slaughter cattle remained steady to 5.00 higher. Trade
was mostly moderate on a shorter supply. The first snow of the season passed
through the are overnight, possibly keeping some cattle from coming to town.
