Compared to last sale: (9/08/25) Feeder lambs under 90 lbs sold unevenly steady
from 3.00 higher to 2.00 lower. lambs over 90 lbs sold steady to 5.00 lower.
Demand for feeder lambs was mostly moderate for moderate to heavy offerings.
Demand for lambs was not as strong as it was last sale as ethnic buyers mostly
picked around and tried to buy lambs lower. Most ethnic buying for the holiday
is over and slaughter lamb prices fell as a result. Too few lambs were
purchased for ethnic slaughter to develop a full market trend, however lower
undertones were noticed. Demand did diminish as both ethnic and traditional
feeding buyers filled loads. Market activity was mostly moderate this sale.
Buyer participation was slower this sale with less interest noticed from all
parties. Demand for slaughter ewes was mostly moderate. Slaughter ewes sold
mostly 2.00 to 4.00 lower on good ewes. Very fleshy ewes saw the largest
decrease in demand this week as ethnic buyers showed significantly lighter
demand for very fleshy ewes. Good 3-4 yield grade ewes sold mostly 10.00 lower.
Utility ewes sold 4.00-6.00 lower, while cull ewes were too lightly tested to
develop any market trend. Slaughter kids all sold 15.00-20.00 lower. Demand
from ethnic buyers was significantly lighter this sale compared to last sale.
Demand for feeder goats remains good with several ranchers in the stands buying
goats to feed. Buyers feeding kids specifically for ethnic slaughter showed
good demand for all light weight kids this week. Feeding kids sold steady to
15.00 lower on a much lower quality offering. Kid quality was mostly plain to
average this week and significantly lower than quality was last sale. Goat
offerings were light to moderate.
