Compared to last week: (7/28/25) Feeder lambs under 80 lbs sold steady to 3.00
higher. Lambs over 80 lbs sold mostly 10.00 lower. Demand for feeder lambs was
mostly light to moderate and lighter than last week. No light lambs were
purchased for ethnic slaughter this week as ethnic buyers were out of the
market. However, demand for light weight lambs remains moderate as traditional
buyers and buyers feeding lambs for ethnic slaughter both showed need for lambs
under 80 lbs to feed. There were not enough lambs for buyers to fill two loads
so some variation in price was seen. Slaughter lambs sold mostly 2.00-3.00
lower on fleshy market ready lambs. Market activity was mostly moderate this
sale. Demand for slaughter ewes was mostly light to moderate. Slaughter ewes
sold mostly 5.00-10.00 lower on good and utility ewes. Cull ewes were too
lightly tested to develop any market trend. Slaughter kids all sold 25.00-35.00
lower. Additional ethnic buyers who were in the market last week were absent
this week and kid prices fell as a result. Demand for feeder goats was mostly
moderate to good. Buyers feeding kids specifically for ethnic slaughter showed
good demand for light weight kids this week. Kid quality was mostly average
this week with many packages of light kids noticed. Feeder kids sold mostly
steady to 15.00 higher. Goat offerings were light.
