Compared to last report: (7/14/25) Feeder lambs under 90 lbs sold steady to
5.00 lower. Lambs over 90-109 lbs sold mostly 5.00-10.00 lower, lambs over 110
lbs were not well compared, however lower undertones were noticed. Demand for
feeder lambs was mostly moderate to good. Demand from ethnic buyers was
slightly stronger this sale as they pushed to find lambs to fit slaughter
needs. Slaughter buyers were searching for lambs under 95 lbs with some extra
flesh and muscle. Demand for lambs started strong but waned quickly as buyers
filled loads. There were not enough lambs for buyers to fill two loads so some
variation in price was seen. Slaughter lambs were too lightly tested last sale
to develop an accurate market trend, however higher undertones were noticed.
Market activity was mostly moderate to active this sale. Demand for slaughter
ewes was mostly good. Ethnic buyers opted to buy slaughter ewes this sale and
fill loads with lambs. Slaughter ewes sold mostly 2.00-3.00 higher on good and
utility ewes. Cull ewes were too lightly tested to develop an accurate market
trend, higher undertones were noticed. Slaughter kids all sold 20.00-50.00
higher. Additional ethnic buyers were in the stands this week buying slaughter
kids which helped push all kid prices higher. This is a counter seasonal move
as historically kid prices fall during the late summer months. Demand for
slaughter goats was mostly moderate to good and better than last sale. Kid
quality was mostly attractive as several sets of heavy muscled county fair
goats were seen. Feeder kids were too lightly tested last sale to develop an
accurate market trend, however higher undertones were noticed as ethnic buyers
and farmer feeders helped push all light kids higher. Goat offerings were light
to moderate.
