Compared to last report: (5/19/25) Feeder lambs were too lightly tested last
sale to develop any market trend. One load of lambs were purchased to feed this
sale and feeding buyers bid aggressively over offerings. Despite lighter post
holiday demand, slaughter buyers continue to show good demand as they tried to
fill slaughter orders. Several ethnic buyers were in the seats this sale buying
lambs, ewes and goats to send to harvest. Slaughter lambs under 80 lbs sold
mostly 10.00-15.00 lower, lambs over 80 lbs sold steady to 5.00 lower. Demand
for new crop lambs was good to very good, while demand for old crop lambs was
mostly light to moderate. All lambs listed in the report are new crop lambs
with old crop lambs tagged out. Demand did decrease as the sale progressed and
buyers filled loads, especially after feeding buyers exited the market. Market
activity was mostly active this sale. Demand for slaughter ewes was mostly
moderate. Slaughter ewes sold mostly 10.00-12.00 lower on good ewes, utility
and cull ewes sold 12.00-20.00 lower. Slaughter kids all sold 15.00-30.00 lower
on lighter demand following the ethnic holiday. Slaughter kid demand improved
as the sale progressed as buyers pushed to fill loads. Buyers showed very good
demand for older kid to yearling offerings again this sale. Slaughter nannies
and bucks all sold with lower demand following post holiday demand. Feeder kids
were too lightly tested last sale to develop an accurate market trend however
higher undertones were noticed as several farmer feeders were in the stands
buying goats to run on grass this summer. Goat quality was mostly average this
sale. Goat offerings were moderate. -
