Compared to last week's light run, feeder steers and heifers were 15.00-20.00
higher. Steer calves weighing 500-700 lbs. were 15.00-20.00 higher with 400-700
lb. heifer calves 20.00-30.00 higher. Demand was very good on a moderate
supply. The largest draft of the day was 110 head of 969 lb. Blk/BWF steers
which sold for 309.25/cwt. One stick-out draft of 20 head of 758 Lb. fancy
black steers sold for 375.00/cwt. CME Cattle Futures traded lower on Tuesday
but positive gains the previous five business days had buyers more optimistic.
The cash market saw some of its biggest gains in almost two months. Inspite of
the heat the offering was one of the largest seen since mid-July.
