Compared to last week, supply on feeders remained light, with better offerings
of quality feeder cattle overall. Demand was significantly stronger, with
feeders selling $25.00 to $35.00 higher. Buyer confidence appeared to improve
following substantial gains in the cattle futures market last week. Slaughter
cattle sold steady to $5.00 lower.
Looking ahead, cattle receipts over the coming weeks will provide an important
indication of available supply. If auction numbers remain light compared to the
same period a year ago, it could signal tighter supplies and continued support
for the market.
