Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 5.00 to 15.00 lower. Good to
very good demand for steers and heifers this week, best demand, by far, was for
steers and heifers suitable for backgrounding and for replacement quality
heifers. With the lower futures contracts, that pressure spilled over into the
feeder cattle market at the auction. Cattle feeders are feeling very uncertain
as their breakeven prices are higher than the current levels of the futures
contracts.
