Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers generally sold 6.00 to 10.00
higher with instances to sharply higher especially for high-quality, weaned
packages and groups. There was a strong demand and improved buyer activity
this week. Yearling steers and heifers appeared firm with buyers willing to
pay premiums for quality and weaned cattle. Heavy weight yearlings traded
better with more interest and higher prices. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady
with instances to 4.00 higher, while lean cows were 1.00 to 3.00 lower.
Slaughter bulls were unevenly steady with trends ranging from 4.00 lower to
3.00 higher. Demand for slaughter classes ranged from moderate to good.
