FEEDER CATTLE 3906 3430 2412
Compared to two weeks ago: feeder steers not well compared due to limited
numbers. Feeder heifers from 850 lbs to 999 lbs were mostly steady to 2.00
lower, heifers from 1000 lbs to 1049 lbs were 10.00 to 15.00 lower. Good demand
for todays offering of yearling steers and heifers. One long string of
yearling heifers offered in multiple loads with 10 loads in the same sort. A
lot of packages of tested open replacement heifers gave buyers the opportunity
to put loads together. Flesh conditions ranged from light flesh to moderate
flesh conditions. Best demand for the cattle coming off pasture in greener
condition than the cattle that have been summered in a grow yard. Hot and dry
conditions have persisted in the area causing deuterating pasture conditions.
Several consignments of spring born calves for todays sale were met with good
demand. Chance of precipitation this weekend with cooler temperatures forecast
for the area. Next feeder sale will be September 25th, the 79th Anniversary
sale expecting a large run of yearlings and spring born calves.
