FEEDER CATTLE 2406 3196 1600
Compared to two weeks ago: Yearling feeder steers were not of similar weight
to last sale, no comparisons able to be made. Feeder heifers sold with steady
to lower undertones compared to last sale's large offering. A lighter offering
of yearlings, as the supply gets tighter across the region, the market was
active as demand is good for these grass cattle. Very good demand for this
first sizable offering of spring born calves. The market was very active
throughout the sale, regardless of fall shot status, there were plenty of
buyers on the seats, and on the internet, ready to battle it out to buy these
good light green calves when they are offered. The quality was top notch, as
was the flesh condition. The drought has caused these calves to be in a very
light flesh condition, which is highly desirable as they will have plenty of
compensatory gain once they start eating from a bunk. Next week, Oct. 1 will
be a yearling and calf special sale.
