Compared to last week: There was a good turn out of feeder steers and calves
this week. Demand was active even as the undertone was lower. However: 600-625
lb. steers made gains bringing about 40.00 higher. There were few comparable
sales on heifers this week but, a definite lower undertone was noted. Long
weaned cattle continue to bring a premium over bawlers. Slaughter cows continue
to creep downward, average to high yielding boner cows brought 2.50-5.50 lower.
Bulls traded uneven with lower yielding bulls bringing slightly higher this
week and better bulls back just a touch. It seems like fall finally showed up,
with cooler temperatures and much needed rain coming into the area.
