SLAUGHTER CATTLE 97 75 99
Compared to last Saturday the feeder market was stronger with a good quality
offering. Light weight steers 300 lbs and under appeared sharply higher and
with strong demand, while the 400-600 lbs steers were steady to 4.00 higher or
greater in spots with a good supply and good demand for weaned packages and
groups. Yearling steers appeared stronger as well, but with limited head to
head comparisons. Feeder heifers were steady to 4.00 higher with a good
supply and strong demand for weaned and value added heifers. Slaughter cows
were mostly steady with a good supply and good demand, however there was
increased interest noted and premiums paid for younger looking leans to return
to farm. Slaughter bulls were steady with a good supply and good demand.
