Movement is slow.
From harvesting, waiting for the next rain, to being too wet and about
to receive more rain.
All parts of Oklahoma are in different situations.
Cattle and hay producers are trying to navigate the current drought,
pricing, and prediction in the early stages of summer and hay production.
Due to the carryover hay, which is less than expected.
Contracts for hay are being placed before harvesting.
Even with contracts, prices for new crop grass hay are still to be determined.
Drought has increased to 99.61 percent of the state that has some form
of drought.
The Oklahoma Mesonet Drought Monitor indicates that
9.21 percent of the state is experiencing exceptional drought, 38.42
percent is in extreme drought, 45.54 percent is in severe drought, 80.76
percent is in moderate drought, 99.31 percent is in abnormally dry
conditions, and 0.69 percent has no drought conditions.
