Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold 10.00-20.00 higher. Steer
and heifers calves sold 6.00-12.00 higher with peewee calves 20.00-30.00
higher. Demand was very good on a moderate supply. The quality of the offering
was above average with more peewee and yearlings in the offering than a week
ago. The offering was mostly small drafts with only 10 drafts consisting of 25
head or more. A couple of stick-out drafts were 15 head of 420 lb. steers
bringing 565.00 and 14 head of 365 lb. heifers bringing 505.00/cwt. Producers
looking to make some capital purchases, to avoid tax liabilities, will have an
opportunity to purchase fancy bred heifers and cows at a Special Replacement
Cattle Auction this Friday, December 12, beginning at 5:00 PM. Next Tuesday,
December 16, will be the last feeder sale of the year for ORS followed by its
final regular Cow and Bull Auction for 2025 on Wednesday.
